EXCEL INDIA Excellence Reflected

The achievements of the students enrolled in the second batch (2009-10) of ‘excel India’ project encourage YES Indians. The excel India students excelled in post graduate entrance examination conducted by central universities and reputed national level institutes. The students got admission in institutes such as JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, IIT Chennai, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) New Delhi, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai, Hyderabad Central University (HCU), English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Hyderabad, AMU, NIT Calicut, CUSAT and Pondicherry University among others. Some of the students secured top three ranks in the entrance examinations of CUSAT, HCU and Pondicherry University. This clearly vindicates the need for prompt action to rectify the handicap. We expect more and more social support for this endeavour – Working Secretary and Project Coordinator Shanavas A.P hailed. The excel India project of YES India is aimed at providing guidance and training to under graduate students to get admitted them in nationally reputed institutes for their post graduation. YES India gives guidance and training for under graduates throughout the year to hit their target.
“This result gives us confidence and encourages us to continue with project implementation. The training definitely makes a difference. Our students have talent but lack of guidance and training leave them in peril. We have filled this vacuum and we yielded amazing results”, Urmila Unnikrishanan, the President and Junior Research Fellow at JNU observed.
“Induction programmes to the third batch of the project are being started for this academic year. Students from various colleges of Kerala enrol in the project. College authorities are highly cooperating with the project implementation. Last year the project was implemented among students of GASC Calicut, Farook College, Providence Womens College Calicut, PSMO College Tirurangadi, Govt College Malappuram, MES Mampad, EMEA Kondotty, MEASS Areacode, Unity Women’s College Manjeri and Marthoma College Chunkathara. More college authorities are extending their support to implement the project at their colleges. This year we plan to start batches at various colleges throughout Kerala.
