a) M.Sc. Forestry (38 Seats): Eligibility: Three years Bachelor’s degree in  science with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Chemistry, Geology,  Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or  Forestry.

Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Molecular Genetics or equivalent degree with minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or at least 60% marks in aggregate. Candidates admitted to Master's programme in Animal Biotechnology with basic qualifications other than B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree shall get M.Sc. degree in Animal Biotechnology. 14. FOR NAGPUR VETERNARY COLLEGE, MAFSU, NAGPUR : Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) recognized by veterinary Council of india. 15. For assam agricultural university, guwahati : For admission into the M.V.Sc. programme in Animal Biotechnology, a candidate has to pass B.V.Sc. & A.H. from a recognized university securing a minimum OGPA of 7.00 in 10.00 scale or equivalent. In case of SC/ST candidates, the minimum requirement of OGPA is relaxable to 6.50 in 10.00 scale.

Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in any one: B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B. Pharma, Chemical Technology, OR M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (For Anna University: Candidates with B.Tech/B.E in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Technology, Food Technology and M.Sc. in Chemistry & Physics are also eligible. For West Bengal University of Technology : Candidates with M.Sc. in Bioengineering are also eligible. For Cochin University of Science and Technology: Candidates with M.Sc in Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, Environmental Biotechnology are also eligible.).

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) Admission 2011


Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) invites applications for admission to the following programmes:
1. M.Sc. (Economics): This is a two-year programme commencing August 2011.
Eligibility: Minimum qualification: B.A./B.Sc. in Economics/B.Com./B.Stat./B.Sc. (Physics or mathematics)/B.Tech./B.E. with at least a second division for Economics discipline and first division for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent mathematical ability.
Some need-based scholarships are available to Masters students as per Institute’s norms. The second year Masters students are eligible to express interest to work as Graduate Assistants and depending upon the availability and norms, might be awarded such assistantships.
2. M.Phil./Ph.D. (Development Studies): These are interdisciplinary programmes commencing August 2011. The duration of M.Phil. programme is two years and that of Ph.D. programme is four years.
Eligibility: Minimum qualification: M.A./M.Sc in Economics/M.Stat./M.Sc. (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/M.B.A./M.Tech./M.E./ B.Tech./B.E. with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the higher secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent mathematical ability.

 Selection Procedure: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in a written test and an interview. The written test emphasizes general aptitude, analytical ability and mathematical skills. The test will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the following centres: Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, and Thiruvananthapuram. The test venue will be notified in the call letter. Based on the performance in the written test, short listed candidates will be called for an interview at IGIDR around the last week of June 2011. Second class return rail fare by the shortest route from the place of residence will be paid to the candidates interviewed. The decision of the Institute will be final.
