HSEE 2011 Last Date 19 January 2011


Indian Institute of Technology,Madras (IITM) invites applications for the Humanities And Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE-2011) which leads to the admission for Integrated M.A. in Development Studies and Integrated M.A. in English Studies offered by the IITM.

Eligibility for HSEE 2011 of IITM

Qualifying Examination: Candidates applying for HSEE-2011 should have either completed or are appearing in 2011 in any one of the following qualifying examinations (QE):
(a) The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central /State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi; etc.
(b) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board /University.
(c) Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
(d) General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
(e) High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.
(f) Any Public School /Board /University Examination in India or in any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
(g) H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
(h) Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level. This is in addition to passing in the qualifying examination with aggregate marks relevant to the category of the candidate.
Percentage of Marks in QE for HSEE 2011 of IITM
The candidates belonging to the general category must secure a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the QE. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure a minimum of 55% in aggregate in the QE. If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of joining. In case, such a certificate is not provided by the candidate, the decision of the HSEE Admission Committee regarding his/her eligibility shall be final.
Date of Birth for HSEE 2011 of IITM
A Candidate, whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1986, is eligible for HSEE-2011.
However, in the case of SC, ST and PD candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e., candidates belonging to these categories /subcategories born on or after October 01, 1981 are eligible. The date of birth as recorded in the High School (10th std. / 12th Std.) first Board / Pre-University Certificate will be taken as authentic. Candidates must produce a copy of this certificate along with the completed Application Form as a proof of their age and at the time of admission original certificate has to be produced failing which they will be disqualified.
Physical Fitness for HSEE 2011 of IITM
All qualified candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format that will be made available to them along with offer of admission letter. They will be admitted only if they are physically fit for pursuing a course of study at the Institute.

Application for the HSEE-2011 is only through Online at http://hsee.iitm.ac.in
DD of Rs.800/- (`400/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates) in favour of the Chairman, HSEE-2011 payable at Chennai is required.
In the printout of the application, fill up the details regarding the challan or the bank draft. Affix candidate’s photograph at the appropriate place(s). You and your father/guardian must sign at the bottom of the declarations.
Put the completed application form, a copy of your 10th class certificate/ +2 certificate / date of birth certificate, copy of category certificate if applicable, and the bank draft (or the `institute copy’ of the bank challan) in an A4 size envelope and post it by Speed post or registered post to:

IIT JAM 2011 Last Date 24/01/2011

Applications are invited for Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) 2011 session. The objective of JAM 2011 is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at the IITs based on the performance in a single test and to consolidate Science as a career option for bright students from across the country. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalizing undergraduate level science education in the country.

Programmes to which Admissions are made based on JAM 2011 score

IIT Delhi (IITD):
Two-year Master of Science (M.Sc.) programmes in 

(i) Chemistry, (ii) Mathematics, and (iii) Physics.

IIT Guwahati (IITG):
Two-year Master of Science (M.Sc.) programmes in 

(i) Chemistry, (ii) Mathematics and Computing, and (iii) Physics.

IIT Hyderabad (IITH):
Two-year Master of Science (M.Sc.) programmes in 

(i) Chemistry, and (ii) Physics.

IIT Kanpur (IITK):
Two-year Master of Science (M.Sc.) programmes in

M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree programme in 

Physics (Transfer from M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree programme to M.Sc. Physics programme is not permitted. However, for the students admitted to the M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree programme, the M.Sc. degree will be given after successful completion of all academic requirements of the first six semesters while working towards Ph.D. degree).

IIT Kharagpur (IITKgp):
Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. programmes in

The students will have the option to exit and receive the M.Sc. degree after the successful completion of all academic requirements for the first four semesters. M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Energy (IITB): 

Bachelor’s degree with any one of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for two years/four semesters, and any one of the remaining two subjects for at least one year/ two semesters.

M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science & Engineering (IITB): 

Bachelor’s degree with any one of Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for two years/four Semesters, and any one of the other four subjects for at least one year/two Semesters. The candidates should have Mathematics at (10+2) level.

M.Tech. Geophysical Technology (IITR):
Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics and Physics as subjects and anyone of the following subjects: Chemistry, Geology, Statistics, Electronics and Computer Science.

Master of Computer Applications [MCA] (IITR): 

Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least one year for annual system candidates/ at least two papers of Mathematics for semester system candidates.

Eligibility Requirements for IIT JAM Programmes

The candidates who qualify in JAM 2011 shall have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admissions in IITs.
• At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.
For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the Admitting Institute(s).
• Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the minimum educational qualification as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30th September 2011.
At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form. At the time of registration, the admitted candidates may also have to undergo a physical fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. In case a candidate is not found to be physically fit to pursue his/her chosen course of study, his/her admission is liable to be cancelled.

EXCEL INDIA Excellence Reflected

The achievements of the students enrolled in the second batch (2009-10) of ‘excel India’ project encourage YES Indians. The excel India students excelled in post graduate entrance examination conducted by central universities and reputed national level institutes. The students got admission in institutes such as JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, IIT Chennai, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) New Delhi, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai, Hyderabad Central University (HCU), English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Hyderabad, AMU, NIT Calicut, CUSAT and Pondicherry University among others. Some of the students secured top three ranks in the entrance examinations of CUSAT, HCU and Pondicherry University. This clearly vindicates the need for prompt action to rectify the handicap. The excel India project of YES India is aimed at providing guidance and training to under graduate students to get admitted them in nationally reputed institutes for their post graduation. Common Admition Test (CAT) 2010

Application for the CAT 2010 has been announced. IIM will conduct the CAT 2010 during a 20 days testing window between 27th October and 24th November 2010.
Eligibility: The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) categories]. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/ institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process.
CAT 2010 registration voucher is available from the selected branches of Axis Bank from September 30 to 27th September 2010 for Rs1400/- (Rs.700 for SC/ST Candidates). For more details of CAT and registration process visit www.catiim.in.
REGISTRATION FOR CAT: On purchasing the CAT 2010 Voucher, prospective candidates must log on to the website www.catiim.in to register for CAT 201O. PG and Fellowship in Rural Management in Institute of Rural Management Anand [IRMA] Last date September 30.

Institute of Rural management Anand (IRMA) has invited applications for admission to following courses of Academic Year 2011-12.
