IFRC-TISS-ONLINE CERTIFICATE COURSE



Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) in partnership with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has invited applications for admission to online Certificate Course on Disaster Management commencing in April 2013.

This one year Certificate course is an introductory level foundational course of 20 credits covering:
(i) Humanitarian Principles and Values in context of Disaster Management,
(ii) Introduction to Development,
(iii) Introduction to Hazards, Vulnerabilities and Disasters,
(iv) Disaster Risk Reduction and Development Planning and
(v) Disaster Response and Recovery

WHO CAN APPLY?
This course is meant for a wide variety of learners - practitioners in disaster management globally, IFRC and National Society volunteers and staff at all levels and others interested in disaster management and humanitarian response.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university as per the guidelines of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Ability to work online with a reasonable level of access to the Internet using Firefox or Internet Explorer web browsers.
SELECTION PROCESS:
TISS and IFRC will select up to 30 qualified participants to attend this course in the first cohort
FEES:
IFRC and National Societies’ Participants     $990 USD
TISS Alumni   $990 USD
Standard Program Fee            1,980 USD

Along with the online application the applicants need to submit the documents mentioned below by uploading them in the prescribed format:

A statement of purpose (.pdf or.doc format) Guidelines for SOP
Two reference letter which should contain comments upon applicants' suitability for the programme and their capacity for combining part-time study with work related duties (.doc format)

Scanned copied of transcripts and certificates of University Diplomas (.pdf format)
Scanned copy of transcripts of qualifying examination certificates in English, or translated, if it is in any other language (.pdf format)
Scanned copy of a passport-size photograph 2 x 2".(.jpg format)

Deadline for application is extended up to 20th March 2013.
