IFRC-TISS-ONLINE CERTIFICATE COURSE



Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) in partnership with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has invited applications for admission to online Certificate Course on Disaster Management commencing in April 2013.

This one year Certificate course is an introductory level foundational course of 20 credits covering:
(i) Humanitarian Principles and Values in context of Disaster Management,
(ii) Introduction to Development,
(iii) Introduction to Hazards, Vulnerabilities and Disasters,
(iv) Disaster Risk Reduction and Development Planning and
(v) Disaster Response and Recovery

WHO CAN APPLY?
This course is meant for a wide variety of learners - practitioners in disaster management globally, IFRC and National Society volunteers and staff at all levels and others interested in disaster management and humanitarian response.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university as per the guidelines of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Ability to work online with a reasonable level of access to the Internet using Firefox or Internet Explorer web browsers.

ATTRACTIVE COURSE IN BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE, LAST DATE MARCH 04, 2013

The Radiation Medicine Centre of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre has invited applications for undergoing the following post-graduate courses under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) (a Deemed University), Mumbai during the Academic Year 2013-14.
COURSE NO I : DIPLOMA IN RADIATION MEDICINE (DRM)
The courses equip candidates for working in Nuclear Medicine Centres. The training will comprise of a full time schedule of lectures, demonstration, practicals and apprentice programmes. Examinations will be conducted by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. Candidates should not hold any other job during the period of training, or join any other training programme. Duration of the course is 2 years.
Requirements For Admission : M.B.B.S. Degree including internship of an MCI recognized Institute/University. Candidates having post-graduate medical qualification may also apply. Candidates sponsored by Medical Institutions with the immediate prospect of post training employment will compete for 1 (one) seat.
Admission criteria: CET (Common Entrance Test) of 200 questions in 3 hours with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET will be based on Multiple Choice Questions and will have 200 questions at the III MBBS level. Subjects covered will be, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstertics, Opthalmology and ENT, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Internal Medicine (Cardiology, Pediatrics, Oncology), Infectious diseases, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Recent Advances in Medicine. The minimum marks to qualify will be 50%.
STIPEND : A Stipend of ` 16000/- p.m. (` Sixteen Thousand only) for the first year and ` 17000/- p.m. (` Seventeen Thousand only) for the second year will be given to each nonsponsored trainees.
COURSE NO. II: DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL RADIOISOTOPE TECHNIQUES (DMRIT)
Requirements for Admission: BSc Degree with 60% and above marks on aggregate of science subjects of a recognized University with Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biophysics, BSc (Nuclear Medicine Technology) or BSc (Medical Radiological Technology). Those having MSc degree may also apply, but they will not have any preference in selection. Duration of the course is 1 year.
Admission Process: Common Entrance Test (CET): Admission criteria will be a CET (Common Entrance Test) of 150 questions with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET will be based on Multiple Choice Questions and will have 150 questions. The CET syllabus will be drawn from Science Subjects. 1) Physics , 2) Chemistry, 3) Maths or Biology of Standard XII or equivalent. Minimum marks to qualify will be 50%. A merit list of qualifying candidates will be made and will be selected in order of merit only. The CET will be held in BARC, Trombay, Mumbai. The dates for CET will be announced later and will be available at BARC website. (www.barc.gov.in)
Age Limit: Not more than 35 years as on 1st May 2013. Upper age limit can be relaxed in the case of SC / ST / OBC, sponsored candidates and PH category. The candidates with physical disabilities limited to the lower extremities, but permitting to stand and move and physically able to carry out the course requirement only will be considered.
Stipend: A Stipend of Rs.9300/- pm (Rupees Nine Thousand Three Hundred only) will be given to each non-sponsored trainees. However, no stipend is admissible to sponsored trainees.

DBT Fellowship Award - Initiative on the Neuro Clinical Research Education - INCRE 2012-13


The Department of Biotechnology invites applications to support clinical research training in the Neurosciences under its “Initiative on Neuro-Clinical Research Education (INCRE) fellowship. There would be six fellowships/per year of one year duration for the next five years. The main objective of this fellowship is to facilitate hypothesis-driven research designed to address important issues in neuroscience by clinicians.
Each fellowship will consist of a consolidated stipend of Rs. 75,000/- pm for one year and Rs. 5.00 lakhs to support research at an institution of repute.
ELIGIBILITY :
The applicant may be D.M./ M.Ch or MD- Psychiatry and interested in pursuing Neuroscience research along with clinical responsibility; and has completed residency within the past five years. Those early in their clinical career will be given priority.
EVALUATION AND SELECTION
Applications would be evaluated by a duly constituted committee. The award would be based on the following criteria:
• Applicant’s ability and promise as a clinician-scientist based on prior record of achievement and career plan, letters of reference, and curriculum vitae
• Research proposal including the hypothesis, scientific rationale, methodology, etc as per the format available on the DBT website.

CUSAT Admission 2013


Cochin University of Science and Technology invites applications for the admission for academic year 2013-14. The university invites All Candidates applying for Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013) should submit their applications on-line. International candidates and those applying for the B.Tech Lateral Entry programme (Diploma-holders)/ MBA/ MTECH should also submit their applications on-line.
