IIT JAM 2014 Last date 20th October 2013

Indian institute of Technology conduct Joint Admission Test to MSc. (JAM) for admission to M.Sc., Integrated PhD and other post-BSc. Programs at various IITs. The main objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. Programs based on the performance in a single test and consolidate 'Science' as a career option for bright students from across the country. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalising undergraduate level science education in the country
The M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programmes at the IITs offer high quality post-B.Sc. education in respective disciplines, comparable to the best in the world. How to apply IIT JAM 2014?
Candidates can submit application form in two different modes online and offline
The preferred mode of application process is online
Off-line Application: Candidate can obtain a packet containing offline application form information brochure envelope from designated bank branches of Canara bank on cash payment; or from GATE-JAM Office, IIT Delhi after handing over demand draft for appropriate amount
Obtain SC/ST/PD certificate (if applicable), OBC candidates need not send any certificate with the application form (it will be required only at the time of applying for admission)
Fill in the application form
Candidates must follow the instructions provided in JAM-2014 information brochure
Paste your recent photograph (3 cm x 4 cm) in the designated place of OMR sheet
Sign at the designated places of OMR sheet
Write the test city first choice code, paper code and your address on the envelope
Online Application: Payment option
Payment through demand draft only
Demand draft of appropriate amount should be drawn in favour of Chairman JAM, IIT Delhi, on any bank, payable at New Delhi

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Scholarship


CATEGORIES OF SCHOLARSHIPS 
The scholarships are available to the following categories of students: 
1) Indian Nationals for Ph.D. study in India; and
2) Nationals of other Asian countries for Ph.D. study in India.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS 
At the time of making the application for scholarship, a candidate should 
1. Hold a FIRST Class Post-graduate degree with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate. 
2. Already be registered/admitted for Ph.D. degree with a recognized University/Institution in India. Those who have applied for registration and have not yet been registered at the time of submission of application, are not eligible to apply. 
3. Not be above 35 years of age at the time of applying. 
4. Be a full-time Ph.D. Scholar. 
5. Have valid GATE /NET score. 

DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP Upto 2 years. 
VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR BOTH THE CATEGORIES 
a) Maintenance allowance including Tuition fee - Rs.12,000 per month
b) Annual contingent expenses for study tours within India, purchase of books, stationery, etc. - Rs. 15,000 per annum 
LAST DATE 
Completed application form together with all the necessary enclosures should reach Administrative Secretary, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, Teen Murti House, New Delhi-110 011 during April and May. The candidates are advised to send their applications as soon as possible. The Fund will not be responsible for any postal delays in reaching the application by the due date. 
The Selection Committee's decision to call a candidate for interview or select a candidate for scholarship will be final and no representation in this regard will be entertained.

Assured Opportunity for Research Career (AORC) under INSPIRE Faculty Scheme


The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has launched the “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE)” program in 2008. The program aims to attract talent for the study of science and careers in research. INSPIRE includes many components for different age groups. The importance of Assured Career Opportunity in R&D sector has been recognized. INSPIRE Faculty Award Scheme opens up an “Assured Opportunity for Research Career (AORC)” for young researchers in the age group of 27-32 years. The upper age limit as on 1st January 2013 should be 32 years for considering support for a period of 5 years. However, for SC and ST candidates upper age limit will be 35 years. It offers a contractual research award to young achievers and opportunity for independent research in the near term and emerge as a future leader in the long term.
  • Each selected INSPIRE Faculty shall be eligible to receive a consolidated amount equivalent to the entry level salary of an Assistant Professor in any IIT system as an Award amount, in addition to a Research Grant of Rs. 7 lakhs per year. The INSPIRE Faculty Award is tenable for a maximum period of 5 (five) years.
  • Three routes i.e. Direct (A), Nomination (B) and Institution mode are available for applying by the eligible candidates.
  • Under `Institutions Mode’, reputed academic institutions shall be required to adopt and complete the internal process as per guidelines and mechanisms available for the INSPIRE Faculty Award before forwarding names of pre-selected candidates for final selection by the Apex Committee.
  • Eligible candidate, who wish to be considered in ‘Direct (A)’ and ‘Nominated (B)’ routes, may send applications directly to the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi for consideration.
  • Nominations from academic institutions or Industry R&D through Vice-Chancellors/Directors of Institutions/Heads of Institutions/Presidents and Fellows of Science Academies or Eminent Scientists from India and Abroad based on personal knowledge under `Nominated Mode’.
  • Applications from eligible candidates both in ‘Direct Mode (A) and Nominated Mode (B) must reach in the prescribed format completed in all respect with hard copies of the necessary enclosures to The Executive Director, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi – 110002 on or before 28th February 2013.
The Scheme provides a provision of maximum 1000 INSPIRE Faculty Awards per year subject to rigorous and transparent criteria basis met by the potential aspirants.
Amount & Duration of each INSPIRE Faculty Award
  • Each selected INSPIRE Faculty shall be eligible to receive a consolidated amount equivalent to the scale of the Assistant Professor of an IIT as Fellowship amount. In addition, a Research Grant of Rs 7 lakh per year for 5 years shall also be provided to each successful candidate.
  • The INSPIRE Faculty Award is for a maximum period of 5 (five) years.

HUAWEI MAITREE SCHOLARSHIP - LAST DATE : 01.07.2013


Huawei has instituted "Huawei Maitree Scholarship Program 2013" to aid Indian undergraduate and graduate students who wish to pursue higher studies in China.
In its endeavour to foster the spirit of innovation and scholarship in every discipline, Huawei has instituted "Huawei Maitree Scholarship Program 2013" to aid Indian undergraduate and graduate students who wish to pursue higher studies in China. This initiative aims at bringing about a better understanding, appreciation and friendship between the youth of India and China. Under this scholarship program, 10 scholarships will be provided every year to select Indian students for undergraduate and post graduate studies in China. Huawei believes that the scholarship would help the students dedicate themselves to the pursuit of excellence which would be instrumental in shaping their careers.
GUIDELINES FOR HUAWEI MAITREE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2013:
Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of Huawei Scholarship tenable for the academic year 2013 - 2014 for aspiring graduate and post graduate studies in credible and reputed institutions in China preferably in the emerging areas of science and technology, culture and social studies and development related programs.
DURATION :
The duration of the scholarship will be for one academic year, renewable for every new academic session till the completion of the course. For renewal of the scholarship, the recipient will have to satisfy the criteria of 80% marks in the previous academic year.
SCHOLARSHIP VALUE :
Each scholarship covers the student's full tuition fee and living expenses for the duration of his or her study in China.
HOW TO APPLY :
  • Candidates must satisfy the following criteria to avail Huawei Scholarship:
  • The candidate must be Indian citizen, resident in India and upto 32 years of age as on April 1,2013 in the year of the Scholarship.
  • The candidate must not have any criminal charges pending in a court of law in India or elsewhere.
  • The candidate should have a good academic track record.
  • The candidate must have independently gained admission to a reputed University/College/Institution in China at the time of applying the Scholarship.
  • The candidate must undertake not to avail of any other corporate or Government scholarship or assistance for the same programme of study in China.

In addition to the above, the Candidate's personality, aptitude and academic purpose will be important factors guiding the expert panel for the final selection. All the applications received will be placed before the Selection Committee. The Committee will, after screening the applications, shortlist candidates for the Final Interview. The Selection Committee comprises of individuals of repute and eminence. The decision for the annual award of Scholarships is based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee. The recommendations are made based on merit, character, aptitude and the purpose of the study

APPLICATION PROCEDURE :
  • The candidate should submit his application only online through Huaweischolarships.org, giving complete and accurate details about his/her school and university education, awards, postgraduate research work, professional experience (if any) and a statement of purpose.
  • The candidate should provide references from two persons of repute preferably academicians and teachers.
  • Proof of admission in a university/institute in China.
  • A statement of purpose (not exceeding 300 words) substantiating the stream of study the candidate wishes to pursue.
  • Copies of DEGREE and COURSE CERTIFICATES and/or MARKSHEETS.
  • Any other proof of credentials the candidate may deem important.
  • All the applications received will be placed before the Selection Committee. The Committee will, after screening the applications, shortlist candidates for the Final Interview. The Selection Committee comprises of individuals of repute and eminence. The decision for the annual award of Scholarships is based on the recommendations of the Selection Committee. SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL GUIDELINES:
  • The student should be enrolled as a full-time student in the degree program for which he/she has been provided scholarship. As a proof, the student should provide a certificate from the college (original copy) saying that he/she is enrolled as a full-time student and bears a good moral character.
  • The student should have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 (80%) or above during his previous year of study at the university. A copy of the mark sheet (attested by the University) needs to be submitted as a proof.

JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University), New Delhi invites application for the entrance examination for admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD admission to the academic year 2013-14. The university will hold the entrance examination for admission to various Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Direct PhD programmes in 18, 19, 20 and 21 of May 2013 at 51 cities in India including Calicut and Trivandrum.
Application Procedure: Candidates interested can apply online on the website http://2013.jnuonline.in. Please click on the New Registration link available on the home page and fill your application. After filling the application please select the mode of payment of fee and pay the prescribed fee in any of the prescribed modes. Candidates can pay your fee by depositing cash in any of the SBI branch which is CBS enabled and which are given in the List. Visit www.2013.jnuonline.in, select an appropriate fee payment link (Application Fee), fill your details and select “Cash Deposit at Bank (E Slip)” as payment mode. Generate and Print E Slip and deposit your fee in any SBI branch in India. Payment is received and updated at JNU after 48 hrs.  Candidates preferring to apply offline can draw a Crossed Demand Draft in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi. IFRC-TISS-ONLINE CERTIFICATE COURSE



Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS) in partnership with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has invited applications for admission to online Certificate Course on Disaster Management commencing in April 2013.

This one year Certificate course is an introductory level foundational course of 20 credits covering:
(i) Humanitarian Principles and Values in context of Disaster Management,
(ii) Introduction to Development,
(iii) Introduction to Hazards, Vulnerabilities and Disasters,
(iv) Disaster Risk Reduction and Development Planning and
(v) Disaster Response and Recovery

WHO CAN APPLY?
This course is meant for a wide variety of learners - practitioners in disaster management globally, IFRC and National Society volunteers and staff at all levels and others interested in disaster management and humanitarian response.
